I am not happy about the manner in which the Daily News article portrayed the press conference at City Hall. First and foremost where does Mr. Lombardi explain why we are so called BOOING. The reference to us as NOISY BIKERS WAS A PUNCH IN THE FACE. At no time did he explain about our concerns for our SAFETY or the severe penalties to be imposed. I might be inclined to think that perhaps Mr. Lombardi was spanked by the powers that be! Although, he did take the time to pat himself on the back for publishing the initial small article .... without mentioning his name. In one instance I thank him for initially blowing the WHISTLE ... which is what he did ... but I am disappointed that now he has chosen to downplay our fight in his article(which is why I believe he may have been spanked). But its our fight and who can better tell the story than us ....
CCMS is reaching out to the community because time is not our friend right now ... we all need to step up our game. Calls need to be made to your Councilman/woman we need to make them hear the entire story as to why we don't want this Bill to be passed. At this point we cannot just call and say I disagree ... the story has to be told. Write letters or you can download a copy of the general form letter that has been posted by CCMS. In addition, we need to involve our non riding supporters ... Gerson's contention is that we are a nuisance to the community ... then lets get the general public involved ... OUR NEIGHBORS ... FRIENDS ... AND FAMILIES!!!
it may feel like a waste of time ... but iin the end it isnt ... WAKE UP... we may not be riding our bikes next season. The truth is that if this Bill is passed you have 90 days to replace your pipes ... there is no Grandfathering in to it. Do you realize that the Dealerships are waiting and hoping for this Bill to pass? Because the price on a stock pipe is going to go thru the roof... many riders are riding motorcycles form the 90's how easy do you think it will be to replace the aftermarket on it now????
Look at the big picture ... there will be more funerals this summer ... more arrests ... because no one is going to give up their bike without a fight. Who has money to pay 10,000 on a motorycle and then turn around and pay 1000.00+ to become within compliance of the Bill.
CCMS intends to be in their faces until we can't anymore ... we need the show of force each time that there is an advocacy session. There will be another session scheduled tentatively for January 7, 2009 upon all City Council's return from holiday recess.
CCMS has plans in motion and we will keep you informed!
Unfortunately this is the Press it could be discouraging ... its something we will have to deal with ... but I guess in the long run I should be grateful that he did not take our words and twisted them around ... so I guess that is the only good thing about the article.
Most IMPORTANTLY it was heartwarming to see the members from both cycles ( an unprecedented attendence by HAMC, 69' ers 1%, Satans Soldiers, from NJ, and the Gotham Skulls), age, gender and ethnicity come together as one ... it was absolutely amazing. We need to keep the UNITY in this crisis and in the future. We have a lot of work a head of us!!!
For those who think you are untouchable by Laws you know who you are ... eventually it will afffect you too! f you live outside of NYC be mindful that if this Bill is allowed to pass in NYC ... it's only a matter of time before the other municipalities come on board ... bottom line its about generating revenue!
I guess this does not impact the party goers and does not seem to be an importance issue ... hell, we don't need a motorcycle ..... to dance ... drink .... simply put ... to party !!!!
