Fam,according to the experts, fatal accidents involving motorcyclists are on the rise and the explanation is simple; more people are riding motorcycles. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the number of registered motorcycles increased more than 50 percent from the year 2000 to 2005. And when the weather gets nice, more riders take to the street.

“A lot of people want to dust of their bikes and go for a ride,” Said Keith Valenzuela, the head trainer for ‘Wheels in Motion.’ Valenzuela put riders through a safety course to qualify for their motorcycle endorsement.

Looking at the numbers, eleven people died in motorcycle accidents in El Paso and Teller Counties in 2007; the highest numbers in five years.

Authorities say the majority of the wrecks can be blamed on speed, drugs or alcohol. But according to Valenzuela, other drivers are often to blame.

“If it’s smaller than an automobile they consciously don’t see it, so my encouragement to motorists, when you see a cyclist back off a little bit, give them extra space.

Like Colorado some states laws don't require all of its riders to where helmets. STRAP UP FAM!!
